We started these sunbeam summer squash in the World Farmers office with the similar intent as the tomatoes: Start some early for those farmers without high tunnels to give them a jump on the season for the vegetables have longer growing times before harvest.
These sunbeam summer squash were a first pick out of the Johnny’s seed catalog while ordering back in February, but then they were back-ordered until April! So it was a long awaited day last Friday, May 3rd, when we could finally plant these seeds.
And they’ve been worth the wait. The first photo was taken at 8:00 am this morning, on Wednesday, May 8th. The second photo was taken only 7 hours later, at 3:00 pm, with 10 more seedlings showing themselves!
